“Ashayer”

The first serious body of my work started in 2010 when I decided to document a journey in a van and traveled for two months during which I immersed myself in the world of Ashayer- tribes- in North-East of Iran. I photographed their daily routines, following the migration of cattle and witnessing the different religious practices of different ethic groups. I was able to capture the soul of the ephemeral villages I visited as well as the people that inhabited them. In Ashayer’s life, Women and girls play a critical role in building community, the rich culture that is on the brink of disappearance. Population of Ashayer people have significantly decreased in last decade due to massive migration to large cities.
